Sgt. Geurkink’s journey with WVFC ignited in June 2019 when he joined with a resolute aim to gain valuable experience and chart a path towards a career in firefighting. With impressive determination, he swiftly acquired his fire and EMS certifications, earning the status of minimum suppression staffing. Sgt. Geurkink also actively engaged in the live-in program at WVFC, immersing himself in the world of firefighting. Today, he stands proudly as a career firefighter in Northern Virginia, a testament to his commitment, hard work, and dedication to the profession.
