Two of our members were presented with prestigious awards at the last meeting of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9835. Sergeant Nathan Wilkins received the EMT of the Year award and Firefighter Michael Chester was the recipient of the Firefighter of the Year award.
Sgt Wilkins joined our department in 2018 and quickly became certified as an EMT. He recently received his paramedic certification and is currently working on his release process as an ALS provider. He was also promoted to the rank of EMS Sergeant. Sgt Wilkins says he is honored to receive this generous award from the members of VFW Post 9835 and is thankful for all of the dedicated personnel from WVFC/DFREM who have, and continue to, educate and support both him and all first responders in Fauquier County.
FF Chester became a member in 2019 and has contributed countless hours to WVFC. FF Chester quickly became a firefighter and EMT and participated in our live-in program for 6 months, where he contributed to staffing nearly every day. FF Chester would like to thank the Warrenton Fire family for all their help and support to keep him motivated to where he is today. He greatly appreciates it.
We are immensely proud of both of our members for receiving these awards, and we are grateful for their dedication to our department and service to the community.
