We are pleased to announce that Lieutenant Hayes graduated from the Virginia Fire Officer Academy last week. This academy took place at the University of Richmond and was put on by the Virginia Fire Chiefs Association, which strives to “prepare fire and emergency services professionals for the transition from the tactical view of personnel and operations to a strategic, safety-oriented view of the fire service”.
Over the course of the academy, Lt. Hayes took part in an interactive and highly challenging curriculum, in which he learned key skills and techniques of exemplary leadership that enhance firefighter safety, as well as methods to advance a culture of leadership using ownership and safety in today’s constantly-changing fire and emergency service fields.
Congratulations Lt. William Hayes.
