Traffic Collision with Entrapment – John S. Mosby Hwy

On Wednesday, October 7th, 2015 Box 0511 was struck for Rescue Squad 1 for a confirmed entrapment from a traffic collision. Supplemental information stated that the patient was pinned in the vehicle and their arm pinned under the vehicle. Medic 5 was in the area of the accident, arrived and confirmed the dispatched information. Due to the location of the accident and automatic aid agreements in place multple Loudoun County units were dispatched along with units from Fauquier . Rescue Squad 1, once they arrived assisted Rescue Squad 607 from Loudoun County with the 45 minute plus extrication involving an airbag lifting operation which lifted the car off of the patients’ arm, hydraulic extrication tools were used to remove the entire side of the vehicle to gain access to the patient. The patient was extricated and was flown by medevac to a trauma center.
