Traffic Collision with Entrapment – John Marshall Highway

On Tuesday October 6th 2015, Box 0310 was struck for a traffic collision with confirmed entrapment. Due to another escalating accident on Interstate 66 in close proximity of this collision Engine and Rescue Squad 1 were requested. At the permission of Battalion 1 an engine was able to divert from the previous accident to the confirmed entrapment subsequently cancelling Engine 1 . That engine (Wagon 4) arrived first finding a vehicle 30-40 feet down an embankment on its side with one still inside the vehicle. Upon this information Rescue Squad 1 requested Tower 1 for the possibility of below grade rescue. Due to the response time of Warrenton units, Wagon 4 began stabilizing and extricating the victim. Rescue Squad 1 arrived and assisted with the extrication which took approximately 18 minutes, these two units were able to remove the victim prior to the arrival of Tower 1. The Rescue Squad cleared shortly thereafter and the patient was transported to Fauquier Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
