Traffic Collision – James Madison Hwy

Saturday, November 5th, 2015 21:47 – Units were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision with possible entrapment. Battalion 1 arrived and advised that there was one vehicle and two patients; requesting another medic unit and two helicopters. The vehicle had traveled off the roadway striking several trees before coming to rest on its roof in the southbound lanes. Bystander were with both occupants and they were out of the vehicle when Fire and Rescue arrived. The driver had life threatening injuries and the passenger had serious injuries. There was no entrapment. One occupant self-extricated and the other was removed by the bystanders. Both required helicopter transport to Fairfax. Air care 1 & 2 transported both from the scene. James Madison Highway was shut down southbound for the duration of the incident (1h 26m) and northbound while the helicopters were on scene. The scene was turned over to Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police.
