Saturday, June 20, 2015 – Box 0134 sounded for the structure fire. Engine 1 arrived on scene and encountered a three story single family dwelling with fire coming through the roof. Crews quickly performed a size up and determined there to be fire on the outside of the house near the roof line and gable vent side, with extension into the entire attic space. Chief 1 established command. Engine 1 pulled the initial attack line to put out the exposure fire while Rescue 1 crews forced entry on the front door and began their primary search of the structure. Engine 1 then repositioned their attack line to the second floor to extinguish the fire in the attic. Crews from Warrenton, Catlett, Marshall, The Plains, DEFRM, and Dept of Defense quickly extinguished the fire and worked to overhaul/check for hot spots over the next two hours. One firefighter was evaluated by EMS but no injuries were reported from both civilian and rescue personnel. The fire displaced two adults and one dog. Red Cross services were not required. The scene was turned over to Fauquier County Sheriff Office Fire Investigators.
