Structure Fire – Haiti St

Saturday, December 12, 2015 1601 – Box 0104 sounded for a structure fire. Multiple calls were received by the 911 center reporting heavy black smoke coming from the residence. Wagon 1 and Ambulance 1-2 arrived on scene to find a two story single family home with fire throughout the first floor. The crew of Wagon 1 rapidly deployed the initial attack line and made entry into the structure. Tower 1 and Medic 1 arrived shortly thereafter to assisted interior crews ventilation, search and deployment of a backup hose lines. Additional crews from Remington, New Baltimore, Catlett, and DFREM arrived on scene to assist with suppression activities. The majority of the fire was extinguished without incident. Crews remained on scene until proper overhaul and extinguishment of hot spots were completed. The fire displaced four adults and one child who were uninjured. The family dog escaped uninjured as well however the parrot did not survive. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.  The family is receiving assistance from the Red Cross.
