At 18:51 units were dispatched to a working structure fire. Dispatched advised responding units that the occupants had evacuated. It was also advised that the rear of the structure and the roof were on fire. Crews arrived on scene to find a 2-story wood frame home, with fire from the rear deck up the backside of the structure and into the attic space above. All occupants were located with no injuries.
The structure was a moderate size with a large volume of fire at arrival from the rear and attic space. Crews worked quickly to knock the bulk of the fire down within 15-20 minutes. The fire was contained to the outside of the rear and the roof/attic space. Water damage otherwise throughout the rest of the structure. The structure is no longer inhabitable. Units operated for three hours thirty four minutes in total to complete salvage and overhaul. Red Cross services were offered to the two adults and dog that were displaced. They declined any services. No other fire service or civilian injuries to report.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office is handling. Nothing suspicious is indicated.
