Recent Activity
In honor of Women's History Month, we're sharing a throwback of the Ladies Auxiliary. The Ladies Auxiliary was established in 1929 with the purpose to be of assistance to the firemen whenever needed, supporting them in whatever they endeavor. This photo was taken at the Main Street Fire House Banquet Room and includes women from the Ladies Auxiliary (approx. 1969-70).

I love running with WVFC because they have the best firefighters throughout the DMV area. Their first due has a good call volume, and I get to work with their top-of-the-line equipment daily. My training and experience at WVFC helped me get hired as a career firefighter. Most of all, my time at WVFC has taught me how to be a mentor, a leader, and a servant to my community.
One thing I love about WVFC is the family I’ve built with volunteers within the department and in my community. Volunteering at WVFC allows me to be a part of something bigger than myself. Some of my favorite moments at the department are these family-like moments, such as playing basketball and cornhole out front. My time at WVFC has helped me recognize and appreciate all that goes into the fire and rescue service, specifically how integral strong leadership is in the department.
About a long week ago, your wonderful caring fire department saved my cat's life... he had climbed a 55’ tree to save himself from a predator. The firefighter staff came after some lengthy deliberation about how to deal with the odd situation. All of you did a spectacular job of organizing a method to save my cat’s life. We are both extremely grateful for you all!
