Traffic Collision with Entrapment - Box 0366 - I66

Tuesday, May 21, 2013 12:06 Box 0366 sounded for a Traffic Collision with Entrapment on Interstate 66. Rescue one was added. Arriving on scene the crew assisted with final removal and patient packaging. They also assisted with the establishment of the landing zone for three helicopters.

Rescue One - Post Paint Report

Tuesday, May 21, 2013  This week the committee traveled to Pierce and reviewed progress of the apparatus. All the main components have been installed and mounted. The purpose of the post paint trip is to review progress and ensure the apparatus is being constructed as specified. The next trip will be in mid- June to complete final inspection before receiving the new apparatus. Next week, they will continue with compartment configuration and installing various systems, such as the HURST rescue system and other cab elements.



     

 

Vehicle into Structure - Box 1009 - Lee Hwy

Sunday, May 19, 2013 04:59 Box 1009 sounded for a vehicle into a structure on Lee Highway. Crews arrived finding a semi truck cab only with no load into the structure. The driver was not injured. The structure was clear of occupants. The fuel tank holding 60-65 gallons of diesel fuel had ruptured. The hazards were secured and turned over to a cleanup company and the Virginia State Police. Crews were on scene totaling 4 hours.

Structure Fire - Box 0104 - Breezewood Dr

Saturday, May 11, 2013 

Box 0104 was struck for a reported structure fire. A neighbor had advised that the power meter box was on fire. Engine 1 arrived on scene and advised they had a two story single family structure with nothing showing on side Alpha. Tower 1 arrived on scene and prepared for operations. After a lap was complete the fire was located on side bravo. The fire was mostly out and smoldering. Entry into the structure was made. Crews checked for extension with nothing found. The assignment was held with units on scene.  Units remained on scene for clean up while the power company secured the meter. Clearing within 30 minutes.

Rescue One - Progress Report 3

Friday, May 10, 2013  This week the new apparatus body completed paint process and was mounted on the chassis. Next week, expect assembly to continue with wiring, components, shelving, trim, etc. being installed. The apparatus will also be ready of post paint inspection.

The committee will be traveling to Pierce on May 20th to complete post paint.

Friday, May 3, 2013  This week the new apparatus cab/chassis continued on line where wiring, body supports, trim etc. were installed in preparation for body mounting. The body was moving through paint process. Next week, expect body to complete paint process and be scheduled for mounting on chassis.

Friday, April 26, 2013  This week the apparatus cab completed cab build and was mounted on the chassis after drivetrain installation. The body panels were being assembled. Next week, expect the cab/chassis to continue on line where wiring, body supports, etc. will be installed in preparation for body mounting and expect body to complete assembly and be scheduled for paint process. 

     

 

Traffic Collision - Box 0367 - I66 East

Sunday, April 14, 2013 18:31 Box 0367 was sounded for a traffic collision reported with rollover. Medic 9 was the first to arrive finding several vehicles involved located on the eastbound side. Rescue 1 was initially due. Reports of up to six vehicles being involved prompted Engine 1 clearing from an incident nearby to add-on. Medic 1, Ambulance 1-2 and AC-1 also responded. Crews assisted to establish a patient count and adjusted the needed resources. Only three vehicles were involved and there was no entrapment. The crews from Engine and Rescue 1 split to provide patient care and establish the LZ. One patient was seriously injured and was flown to INOVA Fairfax. Three other patients were transport to Fauquier Hospital with minor injuries.

Brush Fire - Quantico MCB

Thursday, April 11, 2013 19:51  An automatic aid request was sounded for a large outside fire on Quantico Marine base. Attack one was requested and responded. As well several other units from Fauquier County were requested and responded to assist Prince William County units and Quantico Fire with a 1,000 acre brush fire. Attack one arrived at 2100 hours. They were deployed at 2300 hours with mop up crews to handled extinguishing remaining hot spots. Attack one was released at 0200 hours.

Structure Fire - Box 1310 - Elk Run Rd

Thursday, April 4, 2013 12:19 Minutes after the 1309 Box on Midland Rd was dispatched, Box 1310 was struck for a reported structure fire.  Most of the Southern units were already committed to Midland Rd, so some units were released to help make up the compliment.  Tanker 1 arrived on scene with a large, Balloon Frame, two story, single family structure with fire showing on side Charlie.  Tanker 1’s officer established Elk Run Command, and advised the next in Engine to lay a line to tanker 1 and prepare for rural water operations.  Tanker 1’s officer performed a 360 and noted fire on side Charlie of the house, with an attached breezeway fully involved, which was attached to another small structure that was fully involved.  A two inch attack line was advanced to side Charlie by Tanker 1’s crew for initial fire attack.  Once Engine 1514 and Engine 1 arrived on scene, crews advanced a line into the main house to start knocking the remaining fire.  Units remained on scene for four hours fighting fire and performing overhaul.
